Meeting Minutes—November 18, 2006—Richard’s Restaurant
Senior Vice Commander Matt
Elkin opened the meeting at 12:50 p.m. Chaplain Jon Ayers led the group in the
opening prayer. Then the group recited the American’s Creed and the Pledge of
Allegiance led by Sr. Vice Commander Elkin. The secretary and treasurer were
absent, so no reports were given.
During the meal and prior to
opening the meeting, Ann Carter presented a program regarding Indiana’s
Underground Railroad.
Members present were Timon Pike, Tom Crawford, Ned Baker, Larry Myer, Don Overmyer, Matt Elkin, Jon Ayres, Allen Moore, Larry Ebert,
and Gary Dolph. Guests present were Bill Hall, Dan
Carter, Ann Carter, Katherine Whisler, and Connie Overmyer.
Old Business:
The minutes of the September
16, 2006, meeting were amended with the correction of the spelling of Allen
Moore.
The Cannon was cleaned.
Permanent housing for the cannon has not been finished, and it is unknown as to
when the building to house it will be completed.
The Lindley Cemetery Project
was finished about three weeks prior with about 75% of the stones repaired.
Efforts have been made to obtain replacement stones for the veterans. Russ Kirchner has agreed to take delivery and
storage of any stones received until they can be set.
Members were reminded to pay
dues for 2007.

Tom Crawford reported on
efforts for obtaining a plaque for Howard County’s last Civil War veteran and
issues with Albright Cemetery.
There was discussion as to
locating an artillery uniform for the cannon display.
Winners of the book raffle
were Don Overmyer, Bill Hall, and Gary Dolph.
The next meeting will be
December 16. As customary for the December meeting, the program will consist of
show and tell items brought in by members..
